Nonresident Competitive Scholarship Waiver Guide
The Graduate College will request the nonresident tuition waiver on the student's behalf provided the enrollment requirement is met per the Graduate Merit award percentage.
Student Business Services takes up to 5 business days to process the competitive scholarship waiver requests from The Graduate College. Student Business Services does not expedite waiver requests.
Fall 2026 Timeline

| July 15 | Deadline to accept or decline Grad Merit Fellowship |
| August 1 | Fall billing statements released by Student Business Services |
| August 9 | Disbursement date by Financial Aid. All scholarship funding is released by Financial Aid no earlier than ten calendar days prior to the start of classes. |
| August 13 | Payment Deadline for Fall 2026 |
| August 19 | Classes Begin (Full Term) |
| September 3 | Deadline for Grad College to request scholarship waivers. SBS will not accept waiver requests after this date. |
Registered Prior to July 31?
Confirm the competitive scholarship waiver is on your billing statement when it is released by Student Business Services on August 1.
Registered On or After July 31?
The competitive scholarship waiver is not applied automatically. Allow one week after registering if you meet the required BOSS hours.
Registered Close to the Fall Deadline?
If you register close to the fall payment deadline, you must pay upfront and will be reimbursed after the waiver is applied—no exceptions.
