Award Details

  • Covers up to 21 credit hours per academic year 
  • Applies only to courses counted toward the doctoral degree 
  • Covers only tuition (fees are not included) 
  • Maximum of 3 years of total support. This limit does not reset if students:  
    • Change assistantship type 
    • Change their doctoral program 

Eligibility Requirements

  • be enrolled in a non-accelerated research doctoral program at Texas State University and hold an eligible assistantship with 50% time in an active appointment:
    • DRA (Doctoral Research Assistant) 
    • DIA (Doctoral Instructional Assistant) 
    • DTA (Doctoral Teaching Assistant) 
    • DA (Doctoral Assistant) 
  • be taking courses applying to your doctoral degree
  • be in good academic standing
  • doctoral students holding master's level assistantships will NOT be eligible for the tuition scholarship.

Students will lose eligibility if they: 

  • Resign from their assistantship 
  • Are removed from their assistantship position 
  • Fall out of good academic standing
