Cinco de Mayo 5K & Kidz Run 2019

We were very lucky that the torrential rains during the days before the 2019 Cinco de Mayo 5K gave way to clear skies, cool temperatures, and beautiful sunshine. In short, it was perfect running weather and the course was clear. Several of the low-water crossings in the greater San Marcos area were flooded through, which probably explains why the running field in this race was smaller than usual.

The Running With the Grad Deans group had four runners at the start – a small but mighty team. While the course through the Willow Creek neighborhood is deceptively hilly, all four of us ran well.  As a matter of fact, we all ran exceedingly well: We all medaled!  One of our runners was the overall (male) winner with a blazingly fast time, one of us won the women’s masters award, and two of us won our respective age groups. A very successful morning! The event raised $120 for student travel. Our next race is the Firecracker 5K on June 27!
